Title of Project : Heritage - Two Fur Traders- Grade Four
Lesson 2: Voyageurs
Objectives:
Students will:
-  have an understanding of the aspects of the life and job of the voyageur. 
-  understand the critical role played by the voyageurs in the development of the west. 
-  access, organize, and present information. 
-  identify various changes that took place during this time period. 
Students may plan and participate in a variety of activities.
Instructional Methods:
- computer assisted instruction, role playing, journals and learning logs, reading for meaning, assigned questions, research projects

Student Assessment:
Hold a teacher conference with a small group of  4-6 students.  Ask them to: 
* describe the skills a voyageur needed
* describe the dress of a voyageur
- Make anecdotal notes during this conference noting such things as: 
* Did the student access the sites and information and work through the activities?
* Was the student able to formulate jot notes from the information presented?
- Evaluation Rubric for Journal entries
- Evaluation Rubric for Oral Presentation
- Evaluation Rubric for Power Point Presentation
