Project Background: A Navaho Cinderella was completed after students had spent some time evaluating traditional literature in class. Students learned how to identify and pull cultural information from the text and illustrations of folktales. The third graders read several Navaho folktales and collected as much cultural information as they could from the folktales. They inserted the cultural information into a Cinderella variant of their own creation. Illustrations were done on THICK cardboard (to avoid curling), scanned, imported into PowerPoint and saved as a PowerPoint Show. Text was added to the illustrations to complete the book. Credit is given for each illustration.
  • Wishful Thinking - This short ebook consists of student illustrations and recorded sound files of the students reading their wishes. It is a larger file - so please be patient while it loads.
  • The Giving Tree - A Wordless Book. Grade 3 & Grade 6/7 care partner teams created their own illustrations for The Giving Tree. The wordless book was projected using a data projector and students read sections of the poem to coincide with the projected illustrations at an assembly.
