This site, which is hosted by the University of Saskatchewan, contains stories from Saskatchewan's newspapers. Early articles start in the 1880's. A Timeline of New Journalism
Available from the Poynter Institute, this set of pages is organized by date which can make it difficult to find information if you are not sure of the date of the things you are looking for. However, it is easy to navigate and has a wealth of information that is very up to date.

Journalism Principles Censorship, and what the public does not learn in the news
Project Censorship is a group of students and experts who work together to create a list of the top 25 censored stories of the year. This is an excellent set of resources on almost all journalism practices and principals. Materials are organized alphabetically and are written in clear language. Front Page Layout

Design Problem Solving Quiz
This site, which is based the work of Ron Reason (http://www.ronreason.com) contains mainly useful articles on design. Particularly useful in the classroom is a flash quiz that poses a series of design problems and potential solutions. Introduction to Layout Terms
This site, entitled Tameri Guide for Writers, uses simple terminology to explain the parts of a front page. Photojournalism Narrated Photojournalism
This site, The Newseum, contains a series of pages with images taken by well know news photographers. The photographers provide a narrative describing the circumstances in which the photo was taken, and why it affected others. Photojournalism Journals
Behind the Viewfinder contains a series of journals from photojournalists and the samples of the the works they create. National Press Photographers Association

Composition Tutorial
Geoff Lawrence's explanation of composition is simple and well illustrated with examples. It focuses on the rule of thirds, cropping and viewpoint. The site that hosts his page, Photo Composition Articles (http://photoinf.com/), has a number of other good pages on composition. Digital Photography and Manipulating the Truth
The Media Awareness Network has a number of Canadian resources designed for teacher and student use. This one focuses on the ways we can manipulate images digitally and the effects of that manipulation. It is entitled Photographic Truth in a Digital Era. Research Using the Web for Research
This site, published by the Media Awareness Network is a Canadian site with a number of useful pages. In particular, the pages on Searching the Internet Effectively and Authenticating On-line Information are excellent. The site also has both a search feature and a section for teachers, making resources easy to find. This site, the center piece of which is MNet, has resources for teachers, students and parents. The section for teachers includes searchable lesson plans and content, in addition to background information and articles. The site is easy to search and the resources are well suited to the target audiences. These Canadian resources are available in French and English. High School Journalism.org
This site, which is sponsored by the American Society of Newspaper Editors, has a good section of lesson plans on diverse subjects and some good teaching tips. There are also some excellent links. (http://highschooljournalism.org//index.teachers.cfm)
The Editorial Eye
Based on The Editorial Eye, a 12-page American monthly newsletter, the site is a collection of selected articles on writing editing, layout and the craft in general.
