Module 3 - On Assignment Group Project
Student Page
(return to the On Assignment Main Page / Teacher version of this page / Project Objectives)

Introduction:

Here is your chance to give your school the attention it deserves! You will work with a group to highlight the events within your school. The school newspaper will have a specific target audience (the students), related advertisers, photographs and a variety of different stories.

For this project, you and your partners will create an original newspaper and publish it for the student body. This newspaper will contain at least two stories and ads per person in the group. You will also use photographs, a professional layout, and a central theme.

Putting together all the pieces of the paper to create a professional product that appeals to your audience is the key to this project.

magnify Decide on focus topics for the newspaper that will appeal to your student body and are school appropriate. All decisions must revolve around your readership and what they would like to read, see and buy. Make sure you have the answers to the questions on the right before embarking on the project.
  • What will be the focal point of our newspaper?
  • Does our focus adhere to school policy?
  • How can we achieve a professional product?
  • What sections must be included in a newspaper?
  • Who will advertise with us?
