Photojournalism Portfolio Assessment and Evaluation
Module 3 - On Assignment Group Project

(Photo student page / Photo teacher page / Teacher version of this page)

You will be evaluated on three main areas in this project:

  1. The process you use to create your project
  2. The way you work together
  3. The final product you create and how you present it

For each of the categories below, the criteria for determining excellence are listed. You can view the evaluation form in (.rtf). This project is out of 200 marks.

Process (25%)

  • topic selection
  • deadlines
  • research
  • problem solving
  • technical work

Teamwork (15%)

  • assigned tasks
  • equal work
  • cooperation
  • time on task

Product (60%)

  • layout
  • navigation
  • images
  • web design
  • appeal to target audience
  • theme
  • endeaver
  • captions

Sample criteria are set for each of the teamwork and process targets. However, in the product section of the evaluation, only navigation has a set of criteria for a good project. The other targets have a mark, but the criteria must be determined by the teacher and students working together. If more than one group in the class is working on a portfolio, all groups must participate in the negotiation together and agree on the criteria. For more about the nature of negotiated assessment, look at the student photojournalism project, teacher photojournalism project. To see how to set up a negotiated assessment view the process used for negotiating assessment in My Way (.doc) or (.rtf).
