(return to the On Assignment Main Page / Teacher version of this page / Project Objectives)

Introduction:

You and your partners will choose a news event to highlight through the creation of a Radio theme day. This might be a great opportunity to focus on something that is happening locally, if your time permits, or you may choose to focus on a national event.

For this project, you will create 2 hours of talk radio programming that revolve around a news theme of your choice. You must include advertising, interviews, music and profiles.

  • Does our theme allow for hard news and profiles?
  • What equipment will we need and do we have access to it?
  • Who will advertise with us?
  • What type of music is our target audience interested in?
  • Can we work efficiently together as a team?
Decide on a target audience and a theme for the radio day. All decisions regarding advertising, interviews, music and profiles must revolve around your target audience and what they would like to hear.
