Your role as the teacher:
As the teacher, your role in the photojournalism portfolio project is to help students get the technical resources they need to complete the project. Students will need the ability to FTP (transfer files to a server so they can be seen on the internet) and access to either a digital camera or a scanner. They will also need a computer program for editing images and potentially a web authoring program. If your school cannot provide these tools, student should not attempt this project.
While students who try this project need to have some background in the creation of web pages, you may not have any. This does not mean that they should not try the project. However, they will need support from someone in your division or school who has the following:
- Security access to create a spot for your students on the school server.
- An Acceptable Use Policy for students and parents to sign before the project starts.
- The potential to be released occasionally to meet the students during class time.
- A downloaded web album utility like those available on the photo links page and the support to use it.
As a teacher in the photojournalism project, you also need to complete the roles suggested in the teacher introduction to this module. |
