Article Idea Game

To prepare the class must prepare three numbered lists:
1. Types of magazine articles on the board

2. Possible target audiences (you may be able to refer to the list you created in the lesson Introduction to Magazines)

3. Subject areas of wide interest

4. The group with the most wins, is rewarded at the end.

Magazine Articles
1. Personality Sketch
2. Utility/How-to

Subjects
1. Animals
2. Education

Audiences
1. Working Mothers
2. Hobbyists

To play the game:

1. Break into groups

2. The teacher picks a number from each column, and challenges groups to come up with at least one article idea based on that combination
Example challenge: A how-to article on animals for working mothers

3. Each group gives its idea and the group with the best suggestion is given a reward (candy, pencils, chance to come up with the next challenge)
Example article idea: "Help your child choose a pet you can afford to keep"
