Traveling Through Time
Module 1, Activity 1.7 - Introduction to Newspapers
Alternate Task One
(The Teacher Lesson for Traveling Through Time / The Student Page for Traveling Through Time)

Understanding how news has changed through time has basically two elements:
How did people in that time get the news?
What was important to the people of the time?

For each of the following pictures, you need to write a half page piece of writing. You should write as if you are the person in the picture, something that is known as writing in role

Sample types of Writing in Role:

  • a diary entry
  • a letter to a family member
  • jot notes to one's self
