What
is a Math Trail? How can I use it?
A
math trail is simply a demonstration of math concepts set
in the real world. Trails can be built for all ages and
levels of math students. Math trails allow students to
make real life connections with concepts they are studying
in the classroom. The purpose of this project was to take
a few selected Math 20 curriculum objectives (Province
of Saskatchewan), and create a virtual math trail set in
and around the City of Saskatoon. You enter the trail by
clicking on the enter button located on
the menu bar at the top of the page. Each of the seven
pictures take you to a different stop on the trail. The
trail can be completed in any order with the exception
of the picture on the right side of the page. This link
is a slide show that allows you to "Create Your Own
Trail".
There
are a number of ways that you might use these resources
to support student learning in the classroom, or in the
online environment. Listed below are a few ideas:
Can
I download and use any documents found in the Math Trail?
All
of the Math Trail resources can be downloaded and used
for educational purposes. The print materials
have been provided in 3 different formats. The PDF version
requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed on your computer.
This type of document is a "read only", and cannot be modified.
The RTF and DOC versions are formats which may or may not
open on your computer depending on the software you have
installed. These versions allow you to modify the original
content to better suit your needs.
