The online
Native Studies 30 course is in no way intended to be the end all, and
be all, on First Nations issues in Canada. The course is only intended
to be a beginning, a small step in the journey to understanding Aboriginal
issues in Canada. The course is simply intended to help the student
deal with the curriculum objectives set out by Saskatchewan Education,
nothing more nothing less.
The Native Studies 30 online course is of particular interest to students
of Canadian Studies. It is important that young people in Canada understand
First Nations issues, past and present, given the fact that the Aboriginal
population of Canada, particularly western Canada, is increasing at
a tremendous rate.
In Saskatchewan, it is important that all citizens take an interest
in this topic, given the nature of our population shift. It is in the
interest of all citizens to understand the injustices done to First
Nations of the past. It is in all citizens' interests, Native and Nonnative
that the Aboriginal community becomes an economic and socially productive
community safe for the youth of tomorrow.
