NATION
The term Aboriginal Rights, refers to those rights which Aboriginal peoples have because of their indigenous status in the place now known as Canada.
ACTIVITIES 1. Using the Glossary, define the terms nation and sovereignty. 2. Once
you have defined the terms, nation and sovereignty,
determine whether Canada fit the classical definition of nation
under the following headings? If not, explain why we don't fit the
category. 3. If we
do not fit all of the above categories as a country, then why
does Canada exist as a nation? 4.If it is a given that a sovereign nation has the right to enter into treaties with other sovereign nations, then do the following: - Read
the information given on "Types
of Treaties". Explain each of the following statements
and give an example of each: 5. How would
you view treaties with aboriginal people in Canada today? Explain
