These sites will help you do the following activities.

ACTIVITIES

1. Using the Canadian First Nations Treaty Map Index determine what provinces and territories are covered in each of the numbered treaties.
Example Treaty #9 = Northern Ontario

2. Suggest reasons as to why these treaties may stretch across provincial and territory boundaries.

3. Read about Treaties 4, 6, and 7. List eight treaty rights common to all three treaties.

4. In what two areas do these treaties differ?

5. There were a number of treaties already covering the First Nations people in eastern Canada prior to the signing of the numbered treaties. Explain the meaning of one of the oldest treaties, referred to as "The Two Row Wampum Treaty".
