LAND CLAIMS
AND TREATY LAND ENTITLEMENT A special relationship
exists between Aboriginal people and the land. Interaction with, and
the connection to the land, is shaped by the worldview of Aboriginal
people. The concept of land ownership was introduced to this continent
by the newcomers. In traditional times, the land was viewed as something,
which existed for the use of the people. Traditional peoples viewed
themselves as the caretakers of the land for future generations.
