This site contains links to resources that may help you teach word processing and keyboarding skills to students. Please review the sites prior to teaching to review grade level/ability compatibility.

KEYBOARDING INFO - this site features techniques, drills, and finger positioning.

KEYBOARDING ACTIVITIES - from a color me keyboard to several activities - this site is a great place to start!

KEYBOARDING ONLINE - This site contains a collection of activities for students to complete. The activities are organized by grade level (6th - 8th). For example, at the grade 6 level, one link takes you to a Microsoft 2000 page which contains several projects that student must complete to show proficiency in word processing using Word or Publisher. Students can download the document and then begin following the directions on the page. Here is a sample of the directions that may be given.

Directions:
1. Change the font, and size of the Title to 24 pt and the Font of your choice.
2. The (C) means to CENTER and () means to indent {tab}. Erase codes when finished.
3. Bold and underline each answer.
4. Don't forget to erase the directions and do a Spell Check.
5. And add 3 graphics (text wrap all graphics!).

LEARNING THE BASICS - This site has some basic introductory activities and games to practice and reinforce knowledge of keyboard layout.

MAVIS BEACON TEACHES TYPING--ACTIVITIES:
Several teacher-generated activities are listed here to accompany the popular keyboarding skills software, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing (available at:http://www.learningcompanyschool.com).

KEYBOARDING RESOURCES AND ACTIVITIES (SASKATCHEWAN CURRICULUM):
Find an exhaustive resource on teaching keyboarding skills at this site. Topics include recommendations, competencies, techniques, suggested activities (with activity templates), and word processing activities and resources.
