Animals

Earth

  • Exploring the Earth: A Ten Day Journey From the Inside Out - Young scientists explore the earth from the inside out during a ten-day journey. Because the core and the mantle are so hot, the scientists must stay on the crust to study rocks, minerals, and crystals. However, with the movement of plates, they also discover and experience erupting volcanoes, huge mountains, and rattling earthquakes. Through their discoveries students will gain an understanding of the causes and effects of our ever-changing Earth.
  • Earth Observatory - A great photo of the earth taken from space.

Senses

  • Senses: How do we take in the world around us - Movies and quizzes from BrainPop
The Senses - Many of these experiments and activities require children to be blindfolded. Remember that some people may not like to be blindfolded.
  • Webquest - The Five Senses- A computer Integration Activity
  • Ten Activities for Teaching the Five Senses - Our senses allow us to enjoy our food, the sound of music, the beauty of a sunny day, the softness of a child’s hair -- in short, our lives! With the aid of the Internet, you can teach your students about the special gift of the senses and how they work. They will encounter sound by making instruments, guess what is inside a freely bag by using touch, or rub a homemade scratch ’n’ sniff gingerbread boy! Experimenting with the senses is fun for everyone!
  • Monster Fun - Learning the Five Senses - Alesson plan based on the bool Brave Little Monster
