Introduction

It's a clear, dark night in Saskatchewan. As you and your friend look up at the stars, you begin to imagine patterns and forms taking shape before your eyes! Birds and warriors and animals are just a few of the imaginary shapes you are able to create. What are they? Who created them? Are they real? Being the awesome scientists that you are, the two of you decide to find out all the answers to these questions! Both of you have always been amazed by the stars in the night sky anyway.

A visit to sites on the internet soon clears up part of the mystery. The shapes are known as constellations and the names for the most part came from the ancient Greeks. As you investigate further you learn that many of the shapes have stories associated with them known as myths. You are fascinated and want to know more!

You decide that the best way to proceed is to go on a mission to study one of the shapes and its myth in order to become expert. Once you have gained this knowledge, you will be much more adept at recognizing and understanding the star patterns in the night sky,
