Process Part One

Welcome to Part One of your Constellation mission! In this first part, you and your partner will research a constellation in order to become familiar with patterns in the sky.

1. With your partner, make up a list of all the constellations you have heard of. See if you can list more than 10!

2. Bring this list to your teacher for perusal and obtain a current star chart in return. From your list and the star chart, choose one constellation that interests both of you.

3. Your chosen constellation is the one your research is based on and the one that you will research. Use the web sites listed below to do your research.

The Constellations and Their Stars

The Constellations

The Mythology of the Constellations

4. Your research should include the following information:

5. Use all this research to create a large poster to teach others all you have learned about your constellation. Your poster must be a minimum of 18" X 24" in size and should be neat and attractive. It must include the following:

6. The final step in Part One of this Web Quest is to present your constellation to the rest of the class using your poster as the visual aid. See the Evaluation Rubric so that you know how your poster and presentation will be marked. While waiting for your turn to present, you may work ahead at Part Two
