1. You will be expected to find two articles pertaining to the one
area that you have chosen. Summarize these two articles in jot format.
You will be required to add the:
· Title of the newspaper
· The date of the newspaper
· Jot notes that contain enough information for your teacher to understand
the intent of the article (5 Ws)
2. Now you need to understand the historical basis of the information the media provides. Pick out five key words that you will need
to define to understand your article. If you understand the words in the
article, use the chart to assist you in finding words in your area you
have identified. Define these words in short sentences. (Refer to chart
page)
3. Using on-line strategies you will need to understand and research
the concept that you have chosen. The presentation format of a formal
essay will be evaluated by rubric format. The criterion that supports your
marks will need to include the required elements . Your activity will need
to include jot notes, a rough draft and the final presentation. You will
need to include a type of statistical chart, graph or timeline to
demonstrate an aspect of historical information to support your essay.
Your teacher will decide on the format and length required to complete
this paper. The student guide found at the following link can also assist
you with your research plans: http://www.sasked.gov.sk.ca/docs/native30/studentguide.pdf
4. Your final presentation will include an opportunity to write a
current article related to the time that you are researching this
information. Remember you are in the year 2050, therefore, you will need
to predict the outcome of this concept and the impact it has had and how
it applies to today - 2050. Brainstorming and co-operative learning groups
may be used to assist you with this. Analyzing and inferring will help you
look at the past, present and future when developing this product.
5. An alternative activity might be to find a creative mechanism to share your
findings with the class. If this project is done in pairs, you will need
to decide on your presentation styles.
