The Tasks
Task 1:
- As a
class or in groups, you will brainstorm reasons why
people bully others.
- First,
take 5 minutes to list, in your journal, your own personal ideas on this.
- Second,
share your ideas with the rest of the group and record ideas in your journal
that are different from your own. Try to get at least 7 responses.
- Check
your reasons by going to this link on Why
Do Kids Bully?
Task
2:
- You
have been picked by an anti-bullying group to create a poster (illustration)
with a slogan that emphasizes how we can stamp out bullying.
- Your
teacher may want to brainstorm a list of possible slogans for you to use.
- It may
be helpful to consider reasons for "Why
Do Kids Bully?" from Task 1 as you work on your poster.
Task
3:
- Learn
how it feels to be bullied. Walk in the shoes of the bullied person. View
this "Don't Suffer in Silence"
video* and respond in your journal about it made your feel. Write a paragraph
of at least 5 complete sentences.

Task
4:
- Read the e-book "The
Bully"* and then complete the survey at the end of this e-book. Be
sure to also write your responses in your journal.

Task
5:
- View the pictures below.
Choose one of the picture and write a story in your journal that explains
how this bullying incident occured. Include in your story:
- What events led
to the incident
- The emotion of the
characters
- What might have
been said
- How you think this
situation should have been resolved
Task 6:
- Take the Bully
Quiz. This quiz will open up in a separate browser window. Print off both
pages and add them to your journal. Then close that window to return to this
webquest.

Task 7:
- Create a comic strip which depists a
bullying situation. Include the roles: bully, victim and witness. This is
an individual task. You may do a rough draft first and then make your final
draft in your journal. Provide a description of what is happening under each
box of your comic strip.
(Bring your completed comic strips with
your for Task 9).
Task 8:
- Everyone has seen a
form of bullying take place. Think about times you were bullied or have
seen other people being bullied. As a reminder, please click here: Types
of Bullying.
- Write about one of those
times:
- Where were you?
- What happened?
- What did you do
about it?
- What else could
you have done about it?
- Now meet with your partner
and take turns sharing your situation by reading your bullying example.
- On your journal cover,
draw a picture that will show your story to other people.
Task
9: Role Play
- For this activity,
your teacher will assign you to a group of three. You will have 30 minutes
to prepare a 3-5 minute skit, referring to your comic strips from Task 7.
As a group decide which comic strip to use as the guide for your skit.
- Work as a group to:
- Select roles for
each group member.
- Answer the questions
that apply to your role.
Bully:
1. What sort of things do you do to the people that
you bully?
2. What are the signs that indicate you may be bullying someone?
3. What causes you to bully other people?
Victim:
1. What can you do if you are being bullied?
2. What are some things that may make it difficult to stand up for yourself?
3. How do you feel when you are bullied?
Witness:
1. What can you do if you see someone else being bullied?
2. How do you feel when you see someone being bullied?
3. How can you help a bully stop bullying?
- The student playing
the role of the bully will be the recorder and be responsible for writing
out the dialogue in play format. Be sure not to act out the solution to your
bullying scenario.
- After your performance
of the ski, ask the audience if they would like to provide a possible solution
by role playing their soluation idea.
- Now act your your
solution on how the bullying situation could be resolved.
- You will be evaluated using this
rubric.
