Welcome to "Treaty Six and You."

This webquest has been designed to support the incorporation of the Treaty issues into middle years' curricula. Students will need approximately four weeks to complete the project. How they complete the research will depend on the research model you use traditionally in your classroom. Students should be encouraged to take jot notes, use a minimum of three sources for their information, and site sources for information taken directly from published works. All sources should be included in a bibliography. Support materials such as charts, graphs, maps, pictures and photographs should be included to improve the quality of their report. The final presentation of their research will depend on their skill levels. Students may need training on power point or other presentation software.

I would encourage you to invite resource people to your school to help expand the knowledge base of your students. You may want to contact the Office of the Treaty Commissioner to book a guest speaker through their Speaker's Bureau. You may also have community members who are knowledgeable on this subject and they can provide your class with their perspectives on the treaties.

The links below will assit you in learning more about Treaties and other Aboriginal Issues.
