FLASH LEARNING OBJECTS: DATA COLLECTION

What is a Flash Learning Object?
Flash Learning Objects are learning activities or movies created in a program called Flash. These Learning Objects require a Flash Player for viewing. Some of the Flash Learning Objects may include some aspects of interactivity, while others may run more like a movie that students watch to gain an understanding of a particular concept.

Flash Learning Objects for Collecting Data

  • Data Collection Movie - When you select the link to your left, the Flash Movie (Data Collection) will open in a new window. The movie requires that the viewer click the arrow button to proceed to a new page.
  • Data Collection Quiz - When you select the link to your left, the Flash Quiz (Data Collection) will open in a new window. The quiz keeps track of how many questions are correctly answered and provides the viewer with a score at the end. Students should select their answer from the available choices and then select "Check Answer" to learn if their selection was correct or incorrect. To proceed to the next question, they select the next button (>) on the bottom-right of the screen.
  • Introduction to Statistics Canada - This introduction to Statistics Canada discusses why data is collected, why good methods and unbiased collection is important, and the role that all the information collected can play in making decisions about the future direction of Canada. A good introduction piece as you start this unit of study.
