PRINTABLE ACTIVITIES - AREA

These activities are downloadable activities that will allow you practice angles and line concepts AWAY from the computer. Simply click on one of the links below to access the various activities. You will need to have access to a printer. Each activity represents the concepts for angles and lines introduced by grade level. If you are in a higher grade you might use the others as review material.

Discovering Formulas:This activity asks students to determine a short cut (formula) for determining the area of a square or rectangle.
Discovering the Area of a Parallelogram:In this activity, you understand that you could just count the grid squares inside the parallelogram to determine the area, but you need to discover a general way to find the area for all parallelograms.
Perimeter and Area: A few introductory/review questions for determining area and perimeter.

Exploring Surface Area:This activity gets students thinking about the difference between surface area and volume.
