ONLINE LEARNING ACTIVITIES: VOLUME

What is an Online Learning Activity?
Online Learning Activities are activities that are completed while on the computer. These activities include games, interactive tools, web quests, research and discovery learning activities. For proper viewing, some of these activities may require plug-ins (Flash, Quicktime, etc). You may require notebooks and pencils to record information as you work through the activities.

Online Learning Activities for Volume

  • Exploring Volume: This activity encourages students to estimate, compare and calculate the volumes of various objects. Students will also determine the effect on the volume of a solid by changing one or more if its dimensions. A worksheet must be printed for students to record their work as they work through this activity.
  • Exploring Surface Area and Volume:This activity uses a "Surface Area and Volume Explorer" to guide students through the discovery of relationships between various measurements. Students must print off two companion worksheets for recording measurements as they go through this activity.
  • Learning about Length, Perimeter, Area, and Volume of Similar Objects Using Interactive Figures: Side Length and Area of Similar Figures: This two-part example illustrates how students can learn about the length, perimeter, area, and volume of similar objects using dynamic figures. The interactive figure is also a great teacher demonstration tool.
