What is a Teacher Facilitated Lesson?

Teacher Facilitated lessons are lessons that can be downloaded from the internet to your own computer for use in the classroom. These activities offer opportunities for students learn particular math concepts either AT the computer or AWAY from the computer. These lessons are facilitated by the teacher to some degree.

These files are available to you in both the WORD (.doc) and PDF format so that you can take the activity "as is" (PDF) or take it in a form that you can easily modify (.doc) to suit your own needs.

They are asked to move form place to place using a protractor to point them in the correct direction. The lines created become angles they are to identify. This orally directed activity can be used as a formative assessment tool. This activity connects to the Gr. 6 and 7 mapping portions of the Social Studies program.

Introducing Lines, Vertices and Angles: Using a beanbag and some string the teacher introduces the fundamental concepts found in the Gr. 6 math curriculum. The bag moves about the room turning individual students into the vertex of each new angle.

Learning angles with Tic Tac Toe: Students with a partner are asked to play a games of Tic Tac Toe (X's and O's). As the game progresses they must identify the angles as they are being formed. The activity works as both an assessment and reinforcement tool for Gr. 6 students.
