What is a Teacher Facilitated Lesson?


Teacher Facilitated lessons are lessons that can be downloaded from the internet to your own computer for use in the classroom. These activities offer opportunities for students learn particular math concepts either AT the computer or AWAY from the computer. These lessons are facilitated by the teacher to some degree.

These files are available to you in both the WORD (.doc) and PDF format so that you can take the activity "as is" (PDF) or take it in a form that you can easily modify (.doc) to suit your own needs.

Art activity using polyhedrons. Students use printable nets to construct 3d art objects. The process gives the students and creative hands-on exploration of the polyhedrons. A flash movie is available to illustrate some of the possibilities.
Build and test a geodesic dome made with newspaper. This hands on activity available on the PBS site. The students assemble arms from sheets of paper that are connected into triangles. From there they will build the 3d figure. This activity connects to objective 39 of the curriculum.

 

Students construct a pyramid to scale. They investigate 3d objects while determining the impact of scale on the process. The activity connects to objective 43 of the curriculum.
