Home Computers
Minimum Requirements (Newer, faster and bigger is better)
If you have your own computer or are sharing the family computer you must check that your home computer meets or exceeds the minimum list of computer requirements. The next chapter will help you determine if your computer meets the requirements.
Internet Access
A fast internet connection via a cable modem would be the prefered method of accessing course materials. Check the telephone directory yellow pages under "Internet Access Providers" or "Internet Service Providers" for companies offering connection services to the internet. If there is no high speed capability in your area then a telephone dial-up connection must be established using a modem operating at the highest possible speed.
Visual Basic.NET 2005 Express Edition software (VB.NET 2008 Optional)
The Visual Basic.NET 2005 Express Edition and the MSDN Library for 2005 needs to be installed on your home computer. This software should already be loaded on some of the school's computers. At home, the software can be downloaded from a Microsoft website. Be sure to follow instructions carefully. You will need the .NET Framework, the Visual Basic program and the SQL Server when it comes time to do the installation at home.
