Programming with VB.NET

We'll skip the traditional "Hello World" program because this is after all a 30 level class and you should have some experience in a programming language already.

  • Finally...Start up the Visual Studio program by double clicking on the Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 icon which was placed on your desktop when the program was installed.

  • If you are using VB.NET 2005 the icon looks like this: and is located in
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe
    if you accepted the default file locations when installing the software.
  • If you are using the VB.NET 2008 Express edition the icon looks like this:
    and is located in
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\vbexpress.exe
  • Use this path and icon to create a shortcut for your desktop and to pin to the start menu. The shortcut would best be renamed VB.NET.
