The selections and learning opportunities in this thematic unit focus on personal identity, values and responsibilities, and an awareness of social problems. It helps students develop concepts pertaining to:
searching for self and identity within the context of personal reflections and experiences and/or relationships with those around them searching for values and recognizing responsibilities as experienced through relationships and activities with others, including peers, family, and role models searching for answers to social problems with a concerned and sensitive look into the lives of those in need
