Individual Lesson/Unit Plans
- Delivering
a Persuasive Speech
- a lesson plan from Teachnet.com outlining how to have students prepare and
deliver a persuasive speech. Good links to teacher resources as well.
- Up
Close and Personal
- Autobiography/Biography - Students will read a biography or autobiography
of their own choice and share it with their classmates through a wall poster
and an oral presentation. An optional transactional writing assignment is
also included.

Around with Poetry
- Lessons for teachers and students to explore and have fun with different
forms of poetry, to listen, read aloud and perform for an audience.
- Listen
Up! Speak Up! - These lessons provide a structured approach to build students'
confidence in public speaking. Students participate in a series of increasingly
demanding speaking and listening activities which prepare them to deliver
their speech to their classmates.
- You're
the Expert - A series of speaking lessons in which students use their
own research as the basis of a seminar to be delivered to their classmates.
- Introduction
to Argument
- This activity introduces students to argumentation. By the end of the lesson,
students have a better understanding of the terms controversial , pro , and
con , and they are better able to see both sides of a controversial topic.
