Online Research Activities

• Online Research Activity: Toy Timeline This activity will introduce you to several pioneer toys from the Bladon Family Collection held at the Saskatchewan Western Development Museum. You will be required to visit several web sites to gather information on various toys. You do not need to visit all of the suggested web sites. You will be given a chance to select which toys you would like to research. The information you collect will be used to create the final activity, a Toy Timeline. Data Collection Sheet Required.
• Immigration: A "Choose Your Own" Adventure - Can you survive? As you move across Canada to make home on the prairies, see if any of your secessions will prove catastrophic! Can you avoid death by starvation, fire, or brutally cold weather?
• Who Wants to be a Pioneer? (WEBQUEST) - Using information obtained from the Internet, student teams, known as Colonies, will construct questions in a style similar to those found on the television program "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Once the questions are constructed and refined, each Colony will participate in a trial run of their own game show. With this experience behind each colony, they will refine their questions and answers and begin playing the game show again with a real audience, complete with commercials they have created and produced.
