Lesson Plans / Project Ideas

  • Collaborative Project Ideas: This document contains some great ideas for projects that can be used by students to demonstrated an understanding of historical events.
  • Saskatchewan Presentations: Students work collaboratively to create their own multimedia presentations about an aspect of Saskatchewan that they have been learning about. Students may use PowerPoint or Picturestoexe (or another presentation software) as the tool to create their presentation that contains researched information, images and music/narration. Please refer to our movie theatre to show students sample of what their finished presentation could look like.

Online Activities

  • Online Research Activity: Toy Timeline In this online activity, students learn about the toys pioneer children played with in the early 1900's. The students will look at toys from the Bladon Family Collection which is currently held at the Saskatchewan Western Development Museum. At various points in this activity, students will select alternate web sites to visit to further research the history of toys. Once students have completed the activity and their online research, they must bring their information together in a Toy Timeline that documents when toys were first introduced, how they have changed, and what toys have stood the test of time. Data Collection Sheet Required.
