The Canadian Pacific Railway opened in 1908. The CPR created the town of Sutherland northeast of Saskatoon - now part of the city- for its depot and service facilities.

Senator Sid Buckwold (Idylwyld) Bridge

Renamed in 2001 to honour fornmer Saskatoon mayor and senator, Sid Buckwold.

Buildt in 1966. Was originally the site of Saskatoon's first rail bridge. The old bridge was lost to ice 4 times over its lifetime.

Service began in 1908. Saskatoon's success was closely tied to the ability of its businessmen to convince all of the major railways to cross the Saskatchewan River at or near the city.
