One of Saskatoon's most unusual historic sites is the "Next-of-Kin Memorial Avenue" located in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial Avenue was designated a National Historic Site in 1993 an it is the last intact "Road of Remembrance" in Canada.

In 1923 the IODE planted 226 elms - each marked with a plaque honouring service men who died in WW1. This practice continued throughout the cemetery. In all 1219 elms were planted.
