Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the questions in this section
are repeated in other sections of the website where applicable.
- What Is Online Learning?
In terms of taking a full course online, it simply means that
the instruction occurs when the learner and the instructor are
not in the same place. For younger students participating in online
activites and lessons, the teacher may be in the room but the
students are learning content via the internet through a web-based
activity, lesson or assignment. For online
courses, the instruction is delivered through the Internet, email,
special Web-based communication software that allows for asynchronous
and scheduled synchronous discussions, and the telephone.
- Will I get the same credit for an online course
as I would get sitting in a traditional classroom?
Yes. The credit is the same, because you are required to achieve
the same learning outcomes. The assignments and performance standards
are the same as a face-to-face offering. The only difference is
in the method of delivery.
- What are the system requirements?
The student must have daily access to a current and reliable computer with internet access. The student must also
have an email address. For more detailed information on specific course and system
requirements, click on the various course descriptions found here.
- How do I register?
General registration information and the registration form
is available here. If you have Adobe
Acrobat Reader you can download the application form. If you need
more information about registration, please contact the Online
Learning Centre.
