A Pumpkin Grows

Students will enjoy coloring, cutting, and pasting these cards
into a mini-book, sequencing how a pumpkin grows and its various
stages of development.

Pumpkin Patch -Students can sort these interactive pumpkins
by size or color, counting how many of each there are and seeing
if they can count the total as well. Drag and drop the pumpkins
in the pumpkin patch, and give directions to drop the big green
pumpkin behind the small orange pumpkin, for instance.

of both Halloween and pumpkins in these thematic suggestions.

Globes - Here's a unique
lesson on latitude and longitude, where students will use the
lines of a pumpkin to distinguish hemisphere and mark the longitudes.
They will also be painting on the continents and oceans, and displaying
their finished products in the classroom. Also think about creating
your own school pumpkin patch for all classes to enjoy and observe
the results of this creative lesson plan.

pumpkin seeds, particularly if you paint different batches in

With Pumpkin Seeds - This is a hands-on, or rather arms-in,
student exercise with pumpkins, so be sure to have plenty of newspaper
and paper towels handy. Student teams will take turns estimating
how many seed might be in a pumpkin, then dig in and find out
for sure. Wash and dry those pumpkin seeds to also practice counting
by 2's, 5's, etc.
