Links off of this page may be used as a teacher resource or as a student activity as many of these items have been pulled from online projects to make them easier for you to find quickly.

EXCEL-erated Learning – An Excel Resource for Teachers - Excel is a tool that you and your students can use to record, organize, and analyze information. As you become familiar with Excel, you will come to realize the use of this application for many student learning and classroom management activities. You are likely to find innovative ways to incorporate it into your classroom and with your students.
Online Subject Integration Chart - We've taken the Subject Integration Chart you all know and love and added our online resources so you can see where you might be able to integrate technology into what you are already doing in the classroom.

Themed Weblinks - Searching For Those Good Websites To Support Your Teaching? Check out our list of themed weblinks. These were originally highlighted in our OLC newsletter but now we have compiled them in one place to make your searching easier! Check back regularly as the site will be updated with new links after each monthly OLC newsletter.
Rubrics - The use of rubrics is growing as a viable means of evaluating students' performances. Explore the growing number of excellent Internet resources on this subject. Check back often as more links will be added.
Kindergarten Themed Resources - This site was designed to provide Saskatoon Public School Division's kindergarten teachers with thematic resources that can be used in planning kindergarten themes. There is also a companion site for Just for Kids.

Remembrance Day - This site features a comprehensive list of links to assist teachers in their planning of Remembrance Day activities. Saskatoon Turns 100: Resources for Teachers & Resources for Kids

Celebrating Saskatchewan's Heritage - This site features over 600 archival images documenting Saskatchewan's History, 10 downloadable educational movies on various Saskatchewan themes (families, communities, schooling, immigration, homes, war, and daily life) and audio clips from local pioneers. In addition, there are teaching lessons that will support the use of these resources in the classroom as well as online learning activities for students, such as: wordsearches, toy timelines, immigration adventures, cloze activities, puzzles, research projects, and much more.
Grade 4 Explorers and Fur Traders - This site contains activities, information and links to resources that teachers may use to plan student activities for their Social Studies module on Explorers and Fur Traders.
Grade 5 Explorers and Fur Traders - This site contains activities, information and links to resources that teachers may use to plan student activities for their Social Studies module on Explorers and Fur Traders.

When you click on the title link, you will be prompted to save this file on your computer. This is a large file, so we suggest you begin downloading the file and then go for lunch. Save this file to your school's common drive and then everyone in the school can access it and it only needs to be downloaded once!To exit the presentation at any time, hit ESC.
Ladies Home Journal - A fully automated and narrated Meewasin Valley Centre presentation (.exe file) that presents various female reflections about life on the prairies in earlier times. (19 minutes in length). When you click on the title link, you will be prompted to save this file on your computer. Saskatoon - City of Bridges - This site contains Meewasin's Bridge Tales presentation (22 minutes), a structure and design webquest, links to an art module teaching perspective using our bridges as an instructional tool, student activities and teacher resources. This site may be of interest to anyone teaching about structure and design or the history and evolution of Saskatoon.

Historical Overview of Saskatoon - A Flash movie about the evolution and growth of Saskatoon.(12 minutes in length)
Interactive Tour of Saskatoon - Visit historical sights and buildings in Saskatoon answering questions as you go. A Tour Guide provides narration and instruction.

Math
Math Resources K-3: Welcome to Math Resources. This site has been developed to assist teachers, students and parents with the instruction and attainment of mathematical concepts taught in the elementary grades. The site features mental math strategies, online activities for various concepts (a great companion for the Nelson math Program), printable activities and virtual math manipulatives. There is also an FAQ for the new Nelson math program.
Grade 6-9 Math Extensions -This website was created with two distinct audiences in mind. On the student's side, you will find flash movies that provide an overview of
particular topics/concepts, online activities, printable materials, quizzes and review material. On the teacher's side, you will find all of the activities that are on
the student side but you will also have access to Saskatchewan curriculum objectives, teacher facilitated lessons and additional background information that will assist in teaching these topics of study.
Math Websites: A list of sites where students can practice their Math skills in a fun and interactive way. Have fun exploring these Math Websites.

Structures and Design - Saskatoon - City of Bridges - This site contains Meewasin's Bridge Tales presentation (22 minutes), a structure and design webquest, links to an art module teaching perspective using our bridges as an instructional tool, student activities and teacher resources. This site may be of interest to anyone teaching about structure and design or the history and evolution of Saskatoon.
Understanding Tsunamis - A listing of some online resources to use in your classroom to help you answer questions students may have about this historic geological happening.
Science Resources K-9 - This site features resources (units and internet sites) that support the Saskatchewan Science Curriculum objectives grades 1-9. The lists are comprehensive and organized by unit.
Language Arts
Literacy Devices - This page contains a list of literary devices, their meanings, and examples.
Adventures in Writing: This unit introduces students to some strategies that will improve their writing!
Middle Years English Language Arts - This site is devoted to listing online resources and lesson plans that complement the teaching of the Middle Level ELA Curriculum.
Using First Nations Literature in the Classroom - Looking for some new ideas for examining traditional literature? This website features activities that can be adapted to facilitate the study of any culture. Students will learn about oral tradition, folklore, storytelling and as a final project they will perform research to authenticate the cultural details in a piece of traditional literature. Although the project is geared to middle year students and above - many of the initial activites can be used in the lower grades.
Friendship Unit: The purpose of this unit is to introduce students to a variety of friendship issues using high-quality children's literature. This unit contains activities for reading, writing, speaking, listening, the arts, math and social studies. The activities have been organized to teach about the following friendship issues: making friends and friendly behavior, difficulties in friendships, mixed-sex friendships, intergenerational friendships, interracial and cross cultural friendships, imaginary friends, and loss of a friend. Bibliographies and literature lists are also included.
English Language Arts Support Resources - This page contains links to ELA resources that have been developed by SPSD and Saskatchewan teachers. The page will continue to grow as resources become available for posting.

Kindergarten and Grade One Suggested Websites - This site is just getting started but it contains a list of approximately 15 online activities that younger students can do as they learn about computers and curricular content. The majority of the sites have narration to assist the students.
HERO Central - This site contains websites, activities, and resources for studying the HERO theme. There are activities for K-9 and many teacher resources.
Graduation Slide Shows: A Digital Year Book - This site have been developed for teachers who wish to organize and present a PowerPoint based slide show at their school’s graduation ceremony. The end product is essentially a digital yearbook.
Keyboarding / Word Processing Resources - This site contains several resources to assist you in teaching keyboarding / word processing skills to students. The activities include introductory (learning the layout of the keyboard) to advanced level (using various word processing tools) projects.
